both of you are gone...but maybe i'll link you back, this is just so i can write this down hahahaha

J.J. flew past the navy blue banners waving wildly in the wind, his hand raised triumphantly towards the heavens. Thousands of hands lept up in celebration towards him in slow motion as he pulled back on his broom, his blue robes partially continuing forward with his previous momentum. As his teammates hurled towards him, millions of flashes went off in hopes of capturing that victorious moment in time forever.

Behind him, the magical board lit up with his face that flashed around the stadium, the same boy she once knew now transformed into a man. His brown hair fell messily into his blue eyes that hinted at someone who had seen and been hurt more than he was willing to admit. Everything about his was older and more muscular, between his face to his 5'11" frame. The solid frame that had just lead the Puddlemere United to victory and the personality that she had fallen for so many years ago.

And even hours later at a small booth the in the dark corner of a muggle tavern, she could see that they were still the same. She watched, under the hood of her wool cloak, him and Logan exchanging stories over a few drinks. Their easy banter, laughter and smiles were as natural as when they were naive 3rd years, too young to understand what was to happen to them in the future. It was that wistfullness that stirred up a longing inside of her that she hadn't felt for years.

The longing for her two best friends and the way they would always protect her no matter what she did. The longing for when everything became better with an apology and a hug. The longing for the old days before she had left them to continue with her own life. The longing for the people who seemed to know her better than anyone else.

Turning from their smiles, she bitterly drank the last of her Whiskey, pushing that longing away. I made the right choice, she thought sadly, though she would never admit it. They're happier now.

And she got up, slipping some money and a tip next to her drink before heading towards the door, her heart pounding with every step. But as she passed their table, a few feet before the door, she felt his eyes as they looked at her, burning their way through her coat and to her body.

It was only when they left her a moment later, pulled back by the other's wisecrack that she felt her fragile heart breaking all over again.
