Thanksgiving 2012
I don't think I can express how thankful I am for my amazing husband Jonathan. He's unbelievable. We've been together for 22 years, and we're still so much in love. In fact, we're so much more in love than I ever could have believed. I'm stunned by my good luck whenever I look at him. The fact that I have the right to touch him and sleep with him and live my life with him is unspeakably sublime.
I'm thankful for our beautiful children. Although they can be incredibly difficult at times, they're brilliant, smart, wonderful, loving. I think we're doing okay by them, thankfully. :)
This year, more than anything, I'm thankful for Riptide Publishing and my two bosses, Rachel Haimowitz and Aleksandr Voinov. They've given me the opportunity to transition out of academia. It hasn't happened yet, but I'll get there soon. Editing fits me like a first skin, let alone a second skin. If it weren't for them, I'd be a lot less happy, a lot more frustrated and depressed than I am right now.
I'm also thankful for my freelance clients, who seem to get a lot out of my editing skills. They (my clients) are fabulous, too, allowing me to get even closer to moving out of academia.
