Friday I'm going with my friend Ashley to see her wedding dress. Yep, wedding dress. I'm attending a wedding that doesn't involve family or family friends. I've been to my first bachlorette party, scheduled going out around when someone could find a babysitter, hung out with my "married" friends, booked plane tickets to attend a wedding, met boyfriends and fiances and heard the dreaded 'R' word more than I'd like to recall.
Conversations that used to center around town gossip and guys now involves bills, children, and home decor. So, in honor of the fact that I'm still young, fun, and happily single, I've compiled a list of everything I love about being completely dependent on my parents and still independent by living 1000 miles away from home:
~ I can giggle at phrases like "bumping uglies" and "summer nookie"
~ I don't know anything about insurance: health, car, property. Not a freaking clue.
~ I can drive anywhere I want at anytime for nothing more than I've never been there
~ I don't have to call anyone when I stay out late
~ I have a healthy disrespect and naivety about money and bills
~ If I don't feel like it, I don't do it
~ I can fall in love at least twice a week
~ Maintaining steady employment isn't really an issue
~ I can play any dangerous and reckless sport I please, even if mom doesn't like it!
~ No one depends on me for any extended period of time
~ I can follow through with my every drunken whim
~ I can call into work sick because I want to go to the drive in
~ I can whine to my mom for any silly reason
~ I can buy shoes in bulk
~ "Budget" is a foreign word to me
~ I can stay up until 5 in the morning doing anything from watching infomercials to going out with my friends
~ I can have all the irrational crushes I want, including and not exclusive to Big from Big and Rich, John Schneider from Dukes of Hazzard to Smallville, and the cutie(s) at work
