Pleasureman Gunther

Now, I hardly ever run across a musical artist that I truly feel the rest of you should listen to and enjoy like I do but I fully believe that Pleasureman Gunther transcends continental bias and is the prime example of great European music.

Quoting directly from his site www.gunthernet.com

"ONE MINUTE PROFILE OF THE PLEASUREMAN!
Bringing a message of true love to the world!

Pleasureman Gunther is set to have the biggest smash-hit of the summer with his fantastic debut single 'Ding Dong Song'. Günther is a 29 years old gentleman style 2000 in his best years. Günther is from Sweden but he feels like a European. Günther has always been in the entertainment industry and now he feels it is time to change the attitude of the world to do something better. Günther wants to change the worlds look at the sexual way of thinking, so he have started a new trend to sexualise it more in the world. "A Günther trend".
He has only started his mission to go out in the world and spread the message of Love.
The four main things in Günthers life are Champagne, Glamour, Sex and Respect!"

Well, besides the fact that I believe living in Sweden technically makes you European, I think we all can get behind Champagne, Glamour, Sex, and, above all else, Respect!

I have had an unhealthy fascination with European techno singers who only record in English since back in the days of Aqua (You know you remember 'Barbie Girl'!) but Gunther brings the whole package: a weak grasp on the english language, the annoyingly repetitive techno beat, and a self-proclaimed trendsetter apparently trying to bring back the creepy back alley rapist look.

Just to give you a little taste of what you can watch and hear in full length on his website I'm going to give you a couple of his finer lyrics.

From "Ding Dong Song"

"Oh, you touch my tralala,
Mmm my ding ding dong."

He apparently gets into more detail later when they're forced to bleep him out but, I believe this is where the ideal of respect comes in because if he didn't respect these women, he'd be asking them to touch his tra la la whereas he's just commenting on them touching his tra la la.

Then, his back up, the Sunshine Girls, who look as though they were picked up at a seedy stripclub rock in with:

"I want to be my lovetoy,
come near me, don´t here me"

Now, I'm not entirely sure how you become your own lovetoy but I don't believe Gunther is involved with that. The Sunshine girls then start a dance heavily inspired by the SNL skit and movie "A Night at the Roxbury."

From "Tutti Frutti Summer" (Seriously, I can't make this stuff up)

"Honey, you're so cute
It's the land of Forbidden Fruit
Bananas, Melon-as
Tutti Frutti Summer Love"

Once again, not even my wildest imagination could spar against the genius of Swedish techno.

"Come and take your chance
And do the naked dance
It's a no-no and you like it"

Well, fortunately Pleasureman Gunther doesn't demonstrate the naked dance for me but I'm quite sure it is a No-no but I doubt I'd like it...

Now, I implore you to go and travel around the site of what I hope will soon be hitting American shores and we can all jam out to the Ding Dong Song.
