so some of the freshmen are on campus for little freshman activity things before orientation week, and ive overheard a lot of their conversations as they woke me up this morning. Most of them center on
-how was the college application process?
-what it was like relating to people back home when they found out you were going to Harvard?
-what are you doing with significant others?
It's kind of weird because I remember having all three of those conversations and it was really nice to be able to talk to someone who related. Once you're here and you start to adjust the whole Harvard thing goes away and you don't really realize what it is until you leave the city. Everyone has a reaction to the H-bomb, either positive or negative. I mean the fact that we have a name for "dropping the H-bomb" means that we've all gone through it.
For most of the stuff they're talking about (dating, roommates, what to expect) I could give them advice from a wise junior, but most of it I think they'll want to figure out for themselves.
Just hopefully not while waking me up any more.
