Barry Lyga writes Wolverine

Barry Lyga, author of the very excellent YA novels The Astonishing Adventures of Fanboy and Goth Girl, Boy Toy, and Hero-Type has a new book coming out in April--and it's about Wolverine!

Awesome? I think so. :) Bonus: Wolverine: Worst Day Ever is aimed at kids ages 10-12, so Wolverine probably won't be hooking up with anyone. ;)

Here's an excerpt from the Newsarama interview:

Marvel really wanted a different look at Wolverine, a new perspective, and I thought that instead of using a pre-existing character with a pre-existing relationship, it would be interesting to see Logan through completely new eyes.

Anyway, this new kid has the world's suckiest mutant power AND he's the new kid at the school, so he's very much a loner. He very much sits back and observes, so you get these observations on the X-Men and Wolverine from a sort of snarky, but also very sad and lonely perspective.

Boy Toy is one of my favorite YA novels EVER, along with Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games and Neal Shusterman's Unwind. If you haven't read Lyga yet, I highly recommend checking out one of his books. You can even start with Wolverine: Worst Day Ever!
