It was so fun.
I didnt get a chance to walk around AT ALL so Mark took a bunch of pictures from the balcony up top. The venue is LOVELY but i guess the management is SUCKING so LN wont be held there ANY MORE. (But, FYI, in October, there's going to be another incredible party just like this - but it's not going to be called Ladies Night, oh no, it's going to be Ladies Nightmare!!! Halloween-timed sale/extravaganza with bands and TONS more vendors and stuff. DEF worth the trip if you arent from Boston. yay!
This was Ryan's first sale and she was in top form! Her stuff looked great.
-i started this entry on friday, the day after ladiesnight but i was too pooped and generally worn out to think enough to finish it... so i didnt. it is now monday and here's the rest.
The weirdest part of the night was when an asian woman about my age came over to the table. she was looking at the pillows, saying they were nice. she looked at the two with the origami backfabirc then she walked away - a few minutes later she came back over led by another woman (not asian - if that matters) this woman proceeded to beckon me closer, it was very loud in there, and sort of shouted at me the following:
"What is the best deal you can make? This girl's grandmother, japanese grandmother, is DYING in the hospital! She needs something to keep her company as she is DYING in the HOSPITAL. We need to get her something, what's the best deal you can make? She is japanese and dying in the hospital."
I just started at her. She was a little on the drunk side i think...
"um..." i replied, "i can do these two oragami ones as a set for $30 because they kinda go together."
"This woman is DYING in the hospital, that's the best you can do!? How about you give me ONE of them, one of the small ones, for Ten?"
"um, i can' do two for thirty."
She then proceeded to flip over every pillow to look at the backs. She noticed the price for one of the smaller pillows to be $20.
"psssst, TWENTY DOLLARS?"
"um, you could go buy her a sock monkey or something." i suggested motioning to another table.
"uh, NO. we're not getting her a sock monkey."
She started talking to the silent asian woman and i stopped listening.
When they finally walked away i related the conversation to ryan and Mark. Mark mad the very good point that if there was a dying grandmother, wouldnt you MAYBE "pony up the cash" to get her somehting nice? I know, right?
Totally annoying.
But the rest was fun!
The rest of the pictures are
here.
Next morning i had some out of control bedhead:
and I ended up calling in sick due to exhaustion and took the bus back to CT with Mark.
Friday Cypress and I went for a fantastic walk
Saturday night Mark and I went bowling - PROPER big-ball bowling and it was so much fun! I got a bunch of strikes and once i got 106 points! woohoo!
I watched a lot of tv, took a few naps and I'm feeling much better. well rested and pleased that ladies night is over... but i'm excited for artbeat in July and the next ladiesnight in October!
And now I work...
Happy First Day Of May!
