Law Revue

The Law Revue show is now officially over and I am so sad. It’s not like I don’t have other fun things planned, it’s just that I am going to miss seeing everyone all the time. The group that did law revue is the most fun group of people I have met at school.
An illustration of the fun we had was the night of our dress rehearsal. Becky and Gary bought everyone non-kosher pizza. We actually had pepperoni and sausage pizza at Cardozo. I was so good. Alan brought a bottle of scotch and was sharing that with the group. We managed to go over the show but at one point someone figured out there was a buffet downstairs, so we took a break and people left to scavenge. A member of the group managed to grab a full bottle of wine. The rehearsal was a little stressful, to tell the truth I was not sure the show would come together. But it did, and it did spectacularly.
Our first show was on Wednesday night. Mom and Dad come into the city to come see my Law revue debut. A bunch of my friends also chose to come on the first night. We performed and we did so flawlessly (well some flaws). Brickman at the Gym got some laughs which was great cause we were hilarious. Joe and I got very serious right before the skit and we remembered all of our lines. After the show we hung around and chatted with people and then Mom and Dad took Liana and I to Bond 45 for dinner.
I spent the night at the Algonquin with Mom and Dad. Mom took me shopping for my Barristers Ball dress at Saks. I am going to be gorgeous, if I do say so myself. Mom and Dad left and Lauren and I got ready for our final show.
At the beginning of the show Lauren gave the directors and Steve their gifts. They all seemed to really appreciate the thought she put into the gifts. Becky handed us notes that had the location for the after party in them. After the show we were supposed to go to Reservoir and then to the address in the note. The show was packed for the night. The beer ran out before intermission, which is a good sign. The only weird thing about the show was that there were hecklers in the front row who would not shut up. Steve told them to shut up. Dean Mender sat on the ground next to them, and Rob Schwartz finally followed them out but they were incredibly obnoxious.
But only than that the show went very well. After the show, we were striking set and Jeff Marx came up to talk to us. We talked to him for a long time about his new projects and his experiences at Cardozo. He wanted to talk to Lauren and was super complimentary of both her voice and her lyrics for Property. I thought she was going to faint when he told her that she had a future on Broadway.
After he gave us his cards he left and we went to Reservoir with the cast. We had a couple drinks there and managed to convince Raven to go to the after party even though she had an early class. The after party was supposed to be at Village Karaoke but that closed. Becky found out that the party had moved to Sing Sing on St. Marks so all of our addresses were wrong. We showed up at the bar and went to our private Karaoke room. The room soon filled up with people. It was like an incredible sauna. At different points in the evening it felt like we couldn’t breathe. As the night went on the room started to clear out. At the end of the night there was just eight of us left and we had so much fun with the Karaoke. We sang everything we could think of. Anyway the end of the night was a blast. When we left the room it was the biggest disaster area I have seen in a long time, beating even the parties in the Morgan apartment during senior week. There were pieces of sandwich everywhere because Ken had taken to throwing sandwiches at everyone for no apparent reason. There was a whole sandwich on the ground from when Gary threw it at Ben for saying that Becky was the best director. We left the disaster area around 4:30 in the morning and headed home. Lauren and I had to shower when we got back because the room we had been in was so hot and sticky, we felt incredibly gross. We got to bed at sun up and actually woke up in time to get breakfast before class.
Being in Law Revue is a great experience. It is really going to be hard not seeing everyone every day. We all realized today in a flurry of emails that we didn’t really have anyone’s contact information. So it really was like the last day of camp. I am looking forward to spending time with these people outside of Law Revue.
