I'm kind of checking in and out of the news thread and a handful of people have brought up the question as to whether or not LJ made some kind of contractual deal with FB & Twitter to push users towards these other services. Odd that they would, because in truth, Facebook in particular is, in my mind, a certain level of competitor. I've seen people ditch their LJ in favor of Facebook, etc.

What validation to those that are commenting have to imply this? Because really, unless there's something out there that proves it without a doubt, I'd throw that into the "stupid drama rumor" category.

I smell conspiracy theory mongering. Sometimes corporate decisions are just stupid and slow to be undone.

It was speculation, so no validation. But it has a ring of truth to it, because this sort of cross platform corporate gladhanding is rarely done without contracts involved.

It's certainly plausible that there is *some* sort of deal, and not merely conspiracy theory. But I'm guessing the comment feature was just something that came along with the let's make it easy for the FB people to come BACK to read mentality...

Someone gave me a DW code and I'm trying it while keeping the LJ for a bit.

Hmm...I'm not against the idea of going transitionally to Dreamwidth and cross-posting between the two, if I can manage that. Of course, I'm not entirely sure if my handle over there is available (sometimes it is, sometimes it isn't. I guess someone else out in the universe fancies themselves a Lara Goth as well).
