Time for the most anti-climactic story ever! Ready..... go!
So, I'm driving along I575 (which is the equivalent to route 1, for you PA people) in stop and go traffic. It was just barely daybreak where the sky is light enough so you can see silouettes of darker objects, like trees, etc, but you still need headlights to drive. Off in the distant sky, I see a dark blot in the sky. I immediately pass it off as a helicopter because i see them all the time. A few minutes later the object is still there. So, it peaked my interests enough to keep an eye on it to see if it moved. With me moving down the highway it was hard to judge if it had moved, but I could tell it wasn't a helicopter because it would have moved at a least a little within the span of ten minutes. Then, suddenly, the thing bursts into flames. Still being pre-dawn, the thing was like a beacon in the sky. So, there I am, mouth ajar, with only one morbid thought in mind: why is my camera at home? Then, just as fast as it has burst into flames, it stopped and continued to hang around in the sky.
If finally dawned on me (pun intended!) what it was. Seriously, though, who flies a hot air balloon before sunrise? More importantly, who flies a marketing air balloon before sunrise? It was one of those ReMax balloons.
I was mildly entertained for a bit while the sun continued to rise because every time they fired up their gas, the thing would flicker fire like a beacon. I watched it until drifted below the trees, obviously wanting to be on the ground before the sun fully bypassed the horizon.
Silly, silly fireball balloons. XP
Oh, one final note. Yep, the rumors are true. I'll be in PA this weekend. :D
