Eli and I were walking back from the worst movie ever about 30 minutes ago when we crossed Queen & Spadina and started seeing cop cars circling the area. We saw at least five cars at the same time doing this, driving up & down Queen St, all west of Spadina, driving further west and turning around, parking on side streets and inside alleys waiting for something.
Once we passed Augusta it seemed we had left the patrolled area. But when we got to Bathurst, a cop car came zooming from behind, turning north on Bathurst. I’ve never seen a cop car speed up like that. He was on a mission. And then the sirens! They were coming from the side streets we had passed earlier, all leading to the same area, somewhere around Dundas & Bathurst it seemed… or at least that’s about where I think the sirens faded. It was fucking creepy.
Also, on a potentially related note, there was a horrible, suspectless murder of two completely innocent young men on Friday the 13th just west of where the cars were patrolling. According to police, the killer is a black man believed to be familiar with the area around Richmond & Niagara, who fled the scene on bicycle… but that’s all they know!
