Last night I was thinking about it and if I really wanted to and Grey wasn't busy, we could go down to the pasture and I could start working with some of the horses. I really wanna ride Tex (a bay Saddlebred gelding) because I'd like to have him trained so maybe Gabe can ride him when he's a few years older :). Then of course wouldn't it be funny if I trained Brooke right under Tara's fat little nose. Lol. I'd like to get them where they really don't need a whole lot of direction from the reins but rather using their mane as a the reins. Also I want to develop a bareback riding skill set. I've never done it before, but it's always been my dream to ride a horse completely bare with no tack and have the horse respond perfectly as if he has a saddle/bridle and the works on. I just sort of want to know that it's something I'm able to do (and out-doing Tara would make it ten times more fun ;P). I also want to train Tex and Brooke and maybe Precious (she's an older chestnut mare) so that once Bandit is old enough to ride, I can break him an ride him too! He is very skiddish but I get the feeling that he will be a fine horse and he just needs to be worked with consistently and get used to human contact. He has an amazing natural trot. It's like he prances! Lol.
I don't claim to know a lot about horses, knowing a lot about animal behavior is really the key to training one. It's like attachment parenting. We have to constantly adapt to what that child or animal is feeling and respond accordingly to where the least amount of stress is allowed to occur. You can't just have a strict set of rules and go by that and that alone. You must be adaptable :).
So we'll see if I can ride sometime soon. Maybe this afternoon once Grey is finished with whatever he needs to do? Who knows. I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS! Lol. Later!
