Buttons! ...Well, button prototypes.

I've begun experimenting with cross stitch buttons. It's something I've wanted to do for a while now, but I didn't know that there are actually buttons specially designed to be covered with fabric. Then I discovered that there are several Etsy stores that sell them, in many sizes. I'm not sure all my designs will work on buttons, since some might be the wrong size or shape, but we'll see what I can come up with. Let me know what you think of these (eg is there too much space around the TARDIS for it to look good?). Also, should I do these as magnets as well? I'm thinking about it, it wouldn't be too difficult. Internet, I need your opinions! :P

For now, I've made buttons of the TARDIS, weeping angels, and a Christmas Dalek. Because really, who can resist Christmas Dalek? <3

Some of them are off-centre, although it actually doesn't show that much in these photos. It's hard to centre them properly, and extremely hard to take them apart once you've stuck the back on. I'm glad the back isn't likely to come off, but it makes it difficult and time-consuming to correct them when something isn't perfect. And if it's not perfect, it really bugs me. :P

But aside from that, it's fun to be able to make buttons! They're smaller and faster to make than bookmarks, and they're an alternative for people who don't actually use bookmarks (I'll try not to judge).

A while earlier, I tried doing a Tea Dalek button, but I think I need to do it on a fabric with a lower count, since it seems like it's too detailed to look good when it's this small. Fortunately, I also have larger buttons! So we'll see how that works out. When I eventually get around to trying it. Slow Sarah is Slow. >_>

Lastly, because it's so close and so often on my mind, and because I finally transferred some photos to my computer, here's a picture of all the stuff I donated to Desert Bus.

So much work but absolutely worth it. I believe most of it will be given out as prizes, and the TARDIS piece will probably be auctioned off. I'm so excited for Desert Bus, guys! It's always hilarious, and I'm dying to see all the other crafts people have donated. I'm hoarding all the money from sales of my bookmarks and patterns so I can possibly afford to bid on something this year. Only 9 days to go! :D
