Leeds!

Sorry for the lack of updates, I was in Leeds all last week visiting my friend there.
It was my first time there and I have to say I have fallen head of heels in love with the city. When we arrived we past Hyde Park and it was full of groups of students with disposable BBQs (it was really hot last week) and all the student houses had front gardens with more BBQs and hammocks. It had such a bohemian feel to it.

She booked us tickets to see the stage version of "His Dark Materials" by Philip Pullman. Have to say I was very impressed with the puppets they used for the daemons. Their movements and noise were so realistic. Some of the acting and effects were a bit lame. Like the witches rode on fire escape ladders that were pulled across the stage, and the armoured bears had thick Yorkshire accents :/ But they stayed very close to the books, only leaving out a few details from the last book, which I completely understood, because it would've gone on for ages otherwise and would just have been long periods of talking about DUST.

Found this on youtube about it. The woman narrating sound so ecstatic about it all :p

My friend works in Harvey Nichols and booked a table for us in the restaurant for one night before the theatre (the performance was spread over two days). Now I can't stand the snooty lifestyles the people who shop there have, but that food was incredible! I had baked sea trout which melted in my mouth, and scallops served on a bed of samphire (which I only ever thought was just seaside plant, let alone edible!). The presentation and then detail which had gone into the dishes was amazing, it made me all giggly.

Kinda on a downer now I'm back home where there is absolutely nothing to do in comparison. But I'll have to go visit her again over summer.
