So last night I was on arknfox’s rant show but, me being me, I only said like two words. I did not get to let out my annual Christmas rant, so here it is. How stupid is it that society dictates that people are not allowed to say Merry Christmas. Like if you’re at a store in a the checkout line you are not allowed to say to the clerk ‘Merry Christmas’, no…you have to say ‘Happy Holidays.’ Why is this? Well it all boils down to religion. I, as a Christian, cannot say to the store clerk ‘Merry Christmas’ because they might be Jewish. Well so what? Our country has become so obsessed with religious freedoms and avoiding religious oppression that no one is allowed to show any form of religion at all. That is just stupid! Furthermore, I am more offended by having some one tell me what will and what won’t offend me. If some one came up and whished me a Happy Hanukkah or Merry Kwanza I’d say cool and wish them a Merry Christmas. If I had a chance I might ask them about their chosen holiday to learn about it. What it really comes down to is that selected group of people who throw a hissy fight when some one doesn’t greet them according to their religion. Since they throw all kinds of temper tantrums they are the ones getting noticed so now it’s ‘oh no we better hide our religion from every one so no one is offended.’ That is not the solution, the right solution is to kick these people’s asses and say ‘HEY! Grow up already!’ I’m not going to stop say Merry Christmas just because whoever it is I’m talking to might not celebrate it. If they aren’t mature enough to be able to just wish a happy whatever it is they celebrate that’s their problem not mine.
