My weekend to Townsville!
Hi all,
Well last week went by very quickly. It didn't help though that I became as sick as a dog. Lucky for me Mum had a brand new case of anti-biotics so I didn't actually have to go to the Doctor. I'm feeling much better now, but took last Thursday and Friday off school.
I flew over to Townsville on Friday night.. my ears hurt like hell when we were landing.. and I was sick all weekend.. but I'm so glad I went up.. I had a terrific time even if I couldn't drink very much!!
Andrea met me at the airport and then we went straight to the hotel.. She had an iced coffee and kitkat waiting for me in the car.. Just like old times .. where every afternoon we'd chat over a kitkat, an iced coffee and a smoke hehe.. Scotty just got in a short while before I landed. The poor thing got a speeding fine on his way over. He didn't even get out of Richmond and he was caught by the Townsville Traffic Branch :( Andrea gave me a beautiful pair of earrings and to my surprise sent a card around for all the teachers and students to sign.. That was such a lovely thought and was such a great thing to do.. Thanks again Andrea, I love the earrings :) The card was great too!!
Zane came to pick us up and we went over to the Casino. We tried our luck on the pokies for a few hours before we went to THE MAD COW. By the time we arrived there, everyone else was as drunk as lords.. We ran into this guy called Doug Stainkey who was from Richmond too.. I remember when we were sitting at the Federal Hotel in Richmond and Douggie came into the bar on his horse.. was sooooo funny!! Him and his wife have split now so he was chatting up some other lady..
We didn't end up leaving the club until 4amish.. then we dropped by Maccas for a feed and then we got home.. Poor Zane had to work at the Golf Club at 5am so he didn't get any sleep at all! Scott, Andrea and I were sharing a room and we didn't go to bed until around 7/8am catching up!! The Hotel we were staying at was quite nice.. ocean views.. was great!! We woke up at around 10am and then got ready to go to the shops.. Andrea and I had some things to purchase for her dogs etc.. so Scotty just stayed in.. We arrived back with lunch at around 2pmish and then got ready to go out to the races as the Townsville Amateur race meet was on.. I got to wear Keryn's black and white fascinator which was absolutely beautiful.. I had a couple of bets for Dad but they were no good.. Scotty came out even though.. and he bought me a Townsville Amateurs stubby cooler to remember the weekend by.. I thought that was rather cute..
We left the races at around 5pmish and caught a cab home.. A maxi taxi actually.. The cab driver was really nice and a bunch of other women joined our cab!! Our cabbie kept turning the metre off too when we were at traffic lights and stuff.. so it didn't cost us much at all.. We arrived back at the hotel where we freshened up and got changed.. Wasn't long before we were in another cab ready to go out to this lovely Mexican restaurant to meet Zane and his mates.. It was a beaut restaurant!! They had karaoke there too!! Zane got up and sang a Bryan Adams song.. he was pretty good.. our meals were delicious as well.. Andrea got up to sing a few songs as well.. and when we were about to leave this guy comes up to her and offers her a business card for a job travelling around doing karaoke for people.. She was stoked!! She's got such a great voice though!!
When we left the restaurant we bar hopped for a bit before going back to the Mad Cow to go upstairs where the Piano Bar was.. The Piano man was excellent.. He sang Chattahoochee by Alan Jackson .. that's where I msged Zo to tell her what we were doing!! hehe She loved it.. The Mad Cow didn't sell Carlton Midstrength either so Scotty got me a Tooheys New instead as he knows how much I hate XXXX Gold..
We left at around 12.30am as we were all quite tired.. We ended up walking right up The Strand as the cab line was crazy!! Was a nice walk home.. We were quite exhausted but kept on talking for a few hours when we got back..
On Sunday morning it was quite sad when I had to say goodbye to Scotty.. Andrea and I checked out of the hotel once we'd packed up and then we went to Super Amart to buy her bf's parents a bed. We loaded that on the back of Colin's ute (a bright green commodore ute) It's soooo nice.. Then we went around to Lianne's house (She used to be the Registrar at Richmond SS).. but she wasn't home.. but we stayed and talked to her husband Michael for a fair while.. At around 2pm I msged Zane to come and meet us at a meeting point so that Andrea could head back to Richmond.. Zane came to pick me up and I had to say g'dbye to Andrea.. Was very sad.. :( Then Zane and I went and washed his car at one of those car washing places and then went to see "Monster N Law" at the Willows Shopping Centre... It was a great movie.. We then went back to Zane's house and watched a dvd to kill time.. Before you knew it .. it was time for me to freshen up and we got KFC for dinner.. and he dropped me at the airport.. I arrived home at around 11pm and it was raining in Brissy.. Mum was there to greet me at the front doors and we went straight home.. :)
I couldn't have asked for a better weekend!! It was soooo great!! I really miss my mates out there though!! Ahh well, was great catching up and I know that they're lifelong friends!! Oh, I nearly forgot to mention.. we had some sayings we kept using all weekend.. One was.. "hey, how are you doing??" when you met some at a night club.. the other was "housekeeping!".. this was quite funny as we got some new towels.. and when I was in the bathroom at one stage Scott knocked on the door and goes.. 'housekeeping' when I opened the door there were towels sitting on the floor.. was funny as!! heheheh Gosh, we're a bunch of larrikans when we're together.. Good old Violet, Gumnut and I.. (Violet = Scott.. Gumnut = Andrea) hehe
This week I've started feeling better.. The acting principal is really nice.. as my boss is on long service leave.. Andrew had a glowing reference ready for me when I returned to school too which made me as pleased as punch!
Anyway, that's about as much of an update I can write for the time being..
