It’s almost midnight and I am very tired. I loved Venice. It was so pretty. Very touristy, but beautiful anyway. I mainly stayed around San Marco Square.
We visited a glass factory and heard from a guide about the square.
Then I went on a Gondola - fabulous!
The church the choir sang in was beautiful (St. Mark’s Basilica). We then came back to Mestre via boat and bus. A group of us went to dinner, which didn’t end until 10:45PM. Ugh! Bedtime… early departure for Ravenna.
Venice was amazing, but you really need more than one day. I wandered around by myself for awhile, but was afraid to go too far as I didn’t want to get lost in the winding little streets. I was approached by an Italian man who started talking to me in Italian. I told him a couple of times that I didn’t speak Italian - “non parlo Italiano,” but he kept talking. I think I finally figured out that he wanted to see the receipt from the store I had just come out if. However, it was in my passport wallet (my sexy pouch, as I called it) and I wasn’t going to pull it out in front of him. I asked him “why?” and he went away. Strange.
The choir sang at the 6:30 mass at the Basilica of San Marco. Beautiful.
