It has been so long since I've updated, and I'm really even sure where to begin.
I'm living in New Orleans, and have been for the past 2 years and some change. I moved in with my parents in Algiers a few months ago, and I'm staying here in order to get my finances in order. I've been teaching the entire time I've been in New Orleans, first at Lafayette Academy and then at Esperanza Charter School. Last year I taught second grade and this coming school year I will be teaching first grade.
I'm not sure if teaching is my calling in life, but I enjoy it. I won some teaching awards, which feels weird. I guess you don't really get to pick what you're good at doing. I know I don't want to teach forever, but I have no real clue as to what I want to do for my "real career."
There are things that I have dreamed about doing but never really tried. I tend to succeed at things I don't really care about, because there isn't the all encompassing pressure to live up to my own unreasonably high expectations. It makes all attempts at new things terribly frustrating. I really admire those of my friends who seem to very effortlessly do without thinking everything to death.
I'm really looking forward to school starting back, because this summer has been quite interesting. I've read, organized, traveled, painted, slept, and watched too much TV. A teacher's summer isn't as glorious as it seems, after 2 months I started to feel lost. This summer is extra long because my school currently has no director, so they've pushed the date back for teachers till the 18th so they can find someone who can run a school. Also they are looking for a few elementary teachers and an art teacher. If you are interested get in touch with me.
Oh, and I still have that same boyfriend.
