"Thank you."
The words came out almost foreignly. Taeyeon had never expected to hear it from the girl. She gave a small smile in response.
“I really mean it.” Jessica fidgeted, and Taeyeon took notice of the anxiety. Her heart raced.
“It’s okay. Everyone gets scared sometimes.”
“I know.” There was a pause. “But…”
Taeyeon let her eyebrows move up in surprise. Jessica was actually talking to her. Typically, their conversations should have been ended by the first word.
“But?”
And between Jessica and her, they only exchange few formalities even though they had been living with each other for a long time: Taeyeon felt like they were living in different countries.
“But, I’m still scared.”
Taeyeon let out a chuckle. “Really Jessica? It’s just a show.”
The girl shook her head. “No, not that.” The older girl could feel that the words carried a heart.
“Then what is it?” Jessica didn’t know how to answer, she felt many uncertainties, so she went with what she had, and Taeyeon was not ready to comprehend it at all.
“Can you hug me again?”
“Huh.”
Shocked.
“C-can you?”
Another long pause came between them, Taeyeon laughed; Jessica frowned.
“Yeah. Come here.”
The older girl opened her arms once more and let the unfamiliar warmth close in, and maybe, just maybe, Jessica wasn’t the only one who was scared.
