Wow. As a confirmed blog-o-holic, it's hard to believe that it's January 29th and this is my first post of the year. But there's good reason. I had a goal. I had a dream. I wanted to finish my second book before Kindling Words so I could do the final polish before sending it to the Super Secret Agent when I got back. So I've been a busy little writing bee...wrote over 20,000 words from January 1st through January 24th (but who's counting?...uh, me!)
So what else has been going on in the Surreal Life of
saraclaradara ?
Well, in early January I had an ab fab visit to Detroit, organized by the ab fab Eileen Polk of Temple Beth-El in Bloomfield Hills. Eileen got a grant to start mother-daughter (actually VFP "Valuable Female Persons" to be completely accurate) book clubs in Jewish organizations in the Detroit area, and they chose "Confessions" as the first book. The girls and their VFP's met for the first time last November, when they had a party with chocolate fountains in honor of Jussy's chocoholism and distributed the book. Then they flew yours truly out there for a pizza party, book signing and author talk.
It was a complete blast.
Eileen even loaned me her daughter's tiara because in the interest of flying light I'd managed to cram my clothes into my rolling laptop bag and so didn't have room to pack mine.
Talk about hospitality!
The girls asked terrific questions - my favorite was: "If you could take your book back and change one thing, what would it be?"
Isn't that a fantastic question? My answer - remove every single adverb after "said".
As I said to Eileen when she dropped me off at the airport - I couldn't believe I got paid to have so much fun.
