I think the first time this happened was fifth grade, about the first era anyone has real friendships that go beyond liking to play the same games... I had two friends who didn't get along with each other (Sarah and Katie, both of whom I carpooled with for Youth Orchestra). Since then it has happened numerous times, and every time it's really hard to deal with. I mean, when one complains about the other, I can't sympathize, but at the same time, I don't really want to have an argument. And who should I invite if I have a party or dinner at my apartment? If I ask both of them to come, inevitably one will leave early in annoyance, but I can't slight either of them by not extending an invitation. I guess I just don't really get it; I don't dislike people very often, and if so, it's only a minor annoyance and I just ignore them. Ugh.
Anyway... lunch was really funny today. Josh and I went to Mother Bear's, having never gone there together before, and with each of us ordering first on half of the lunch options, proceeded to order the exact same meal, all options of which were our usual: Lunch special #3 (salad and breadsticks) with honey mustard dressing, marinara for the breadsticks, and half lemonade/ half iced tea to drink. I was amused.
