I've finally actually begun to write my 10-page paper that's due on
Thursday. I know it seems late in the game, but for my procrastinating
self three days in advance is actually pretty early. Even so, I was
stressing out a lot earlier today, because I could barely find any
information on my chosen topic. I decided that at this point, the
smartest thing to do would be to change my thesis, so I did, but
remained within the same broad idea so I can use all the books I've
already browsed through and taken out from the library. Now I'm pretty
confident that everything will be ok. I guess that's how my mind works:
when I don't know how to go about doing something, and it's completely
disorganized, I get frustrated, but once I know what I'm doing and
develop a step-by-step process towards completion of said project, I'm
content, no matter how much work I know it will take, or how little
sleep I know I'll get between now and when I finish.
I decided I really need to expand my knowledge of popular (meaning
non-classical) music. I also noticed that Charles and my sister listen
to some of the same music, and I've always liked the music Elisabeth
listens to (I think growing up in a musical household gave her good
taste in all genres, even though she decided not to pursue music as a
career). So I asked Charles about it, and he made five mp3 CDs
for me when I was in Philly... which is a lot of music! I really
like everything so far, and it's great to have good new music to
listen to.
