One Piece 54

You would think Impel Down would be one of my least favorite arcs, what with all the immature toilet humor. And I thought maybe I would like it less the second time through. Nope - it's still one of my favorites. So hilariously epic. And the comedy is kind of a welcome relief against the deadly serious backdrop.

Vol. 55 is waiting in the wings.

I also have an incredibly dim view of toilet humor - it's why I hate the living hell out of Franky's opponent in the current arc, and why I'm firmly against *spoiler* joining the Strawhats. Hell, the latter's existence kinda-sorta ruined the whole arc he was introduced in, for me.

Funny thing about Arlong - I'm watching the One Piece anime right now, one episode per day, and I'm in the middle of the Arlong arc. Just finished Nami's flashback eps yesterday, and MY GOD I HATE ARLONG. I even hate Hachi by association now! D:

Speaking of Arlong and the cookbook, I find it worth noting that the cookbook (to my knowledge) excludes Bellemere's orange duck & rice. Maybe they just forgot to put it in, maybe the publishers didn't want to include a meal that literally caused one of the most heartbreaking deaths in the series (remember, the fishmen saw the smoke from Bellemere's chimney), but I prefer to think of it from an in-universe perspective: if Sanji really did write that cookbook, he'd stay the hell away from such recipes out of respect for Nami alone.

And thank you for the kind words, but there are about three people in the universe who know my LJ exists, so I don't think there's much point. And I guarantee you that I'm even less of a cook than you are, Y-chromosome and everything. -_-

Late comment, but I am still trying to figure out whom you mean by this. ^_^ I'm aware of many candidates that have been proposed, but don't associate any of them with vulgar humor. (Now, as for Franky's current opponent, I have to agree.)

Agreed on the loathesomeness of Arlong, later context and all. I don't hate Hachi, but it is good sometimes to reread (relisten to?) Arlong Park and remember when his dumb good-naturedness led him to just shrug off or ignore a lot of the vileness Arlong's crew were responsible for. In a messed-up world, lack of malevolent intentions isn't always enough.
