This might be a little premature, because I'm not sure if
mangaroo has had a chance to read 37 yet, but having finished a draft of 39, I'm starting to lose track of where I am. So, here is 38 for all my Monday morning commenters.
(
Volume 38: Rocketman )
The wish that couldn't be fulfilled if she stayed with them. *sobs forever*
We were having a huge discussion about this line in the comments to Volume 36
I should go back and read that. The problem with spoilers and me being 22 volumes behind is I don't know which ones are safe ever.
I love all the shipwrights gaping at the fact that the reindeer turned into a tanuki
I wish Viz wouldn't translate this as "raccoon."
They're still doing it three pages later.
I carelessly missed that. Bah! I spot the mouse in every scene but miss a whole panel? Anyway, I love how sweet the whispered call for Usopp is when Chopper does it, and how Oda makes it instantly hilarious by having the shipwrights mimic it blindly.
Lucci comments that he has no regrets about leaving Water 7 behind, though it's been his home for five years.
YOU SUCK, ROB LUCCI. (But the pigeon wearing a Lucci coat is hilarious.)
"Hang on, the first part's just a useless love letter. OK, now he's getting to the point…"
More than the sign -- and I love the part telling not-Nami people not to read the note. Sanji and I may be the same person -- anyway, more than the sign, I was wondering how he had time to draft a love letter as part of his informative note.
start kicking government agent butt.
Hee. Being Sanji, that has literal force. (Also, *snerk* over the fujoshi spoiler.)
The pigeon coat actually appeared earlier when they are getting ready to pull out of the station early, but I totally missed it that time. I’m telling you, hidden objects everywhere.
While I have mouse and pigeon radar and miss, y'know, PLOT. Also, every fight and action scene.
Yes, folks, it's only been some TWENTY-SIX volumes since the sword's curse was last mentioned.
And yet, because it is Zoro, I also remembered. It's good to be a fangirl. also, being a Zopper (not in a fujoshi way) fangirl makes this hilarious: Zoro is still trying to get Chopper off his face
Forget Lucci, I'm slashing the pigeon.
It took you this long?? I can't decide if I'm Mouse x Iceberg or Pigeon x Mouse (don't be evil like Lucci, pigeon).
"How dare you do that to our long nose…!"
And right after the "ex," too. So cute.
Iceberg emerges from the train.
Wearing his bandana from Tom's Workers. I love you, Iceberg. Stop trying to kill Robin.
Luffy claims "pigeon guy" for his opponent, since Lucci seems to be the strongest.
For Mouse Justice!
OMG, I don't know why I love this conversation so much. It's so them.
I do not understand this conversation. What's the 108?
Sanji: "Aw, marimo-kun, you were worried about me?" Zoro: "AS IF!"
[fujoshi specifics]Dear heavens. They're Kirishima and Yokozawa.
I hope that doesn't hurt the den-den mushi, poor thing.
Me, too! Also, did you notice that when Nami picked up the mushi call earlier, she pulled it out of her copious bosom? That would have made Sanji so happy.
I wonder what Sogeking was doing on the sea train destined for Enies Lobby?

Random notes:
1. The Baroque Works cover arc just shows me how much I forget about past volumes. Too many characters!
2. "nami" came up for the first time as a flashcard last week. Did I know her name meant "wave"?
3. Nami was pretty awesome in her pursuit of Robin.

I KNOWWWWW T_T

Yes! I think I originally meant to mention that but forgot. I really love the bandana touch.
It's okay, he promises never to do it again.
I do not understand this conversation. What's the 108?
Zoro has a bunch of attacks that are either Buddhist puns, jokes about food, or both. (Mostly both.) One of them is the 108-pound cannon, which according to the wikia (I had to look to refresh my memory) refers to the 108 Earthly Desires and involves a really complicated pun playing on the word for "earthly desires," the word for cannon and the word for phoenix. He first used it to defeat Ohm on Skypiea (vol 29), and I think I talked about the pun there. Anyway, Luffy means that them teaming up will double the power of the attack, since Zoro's 108 pound cannon and his gomu-gomu no cannon apparently have roughly the same power.
she pulled it out of her copious bosom? That would have made Sanji so happy.
I love that moment. He told her to wear it next to her heart!
2. "nami" came up for the first time as a flashcard last week. Did I know her name meant "wave"?
I wondered about that at one point, but as far as I know, Nami's name is only ever spelt with katakana in the manga, so I don't know if it actually means wave or not. Would be appropriate, I suppose, for the navigator.
1. The Baroque Works cover arc just shows me how much I forget about past volumes. Too many characters!
I have to go back and reread stuff all the time - another reason I'm glad I let the whole series x2 take up room on my shelves.
3. Nami was pretty awesome in her pursuit of Robin.
Yes! She gets some good moments in this arc.
I wonder what Sogeking was doing on the sea train destined for Enies Lobby?
He's a hero! Heroes always appear when they're most needed. ^__^
There isn't anything else you wanted to say about Sogeking...? Maybe you'd like to know where Sniper Island is?

This is the relevant thread. I went and read through it again - there are a couple of minor spoilers for stuff later in Enies Lobby, but I think it's generally safe for you to read even if you haven't got past 38. It will be extra safe once we get through the end of vol 44.

Now I'm curious: which one?
Though I am glad Zoro and not Sanji is raising Chopper.
Hee!
I think the degree to which Sanji's "chivalry" bothers me pretty much depends on what mood I'm in. Sometimes it is worse than others. But either way, I love when he gets to be awesome without being sexist. <3

It's because I'm destined to spoil you always, even when I'm trying my hardest not to.
(But if you were going to have an Enies Lobby line spoiled for you, I'm glad it was that one and not the other one that was in that thread.)
