So, some One Piece discussions while we were in Japan inspired me to try to tackle the One Piece summaries again ( Read more... )

You're too fast! I only just got the book from the library today. Now I have to read it.

Gah! I forgot that the translation spells "Zoro" "Zolo." My eyes! My eyes!

Edit: Remind me, please? Why do the Shandian descendants have wings on their backs? Did they evolve?

Oh, what a great question! I never noticed that - or it never occurred to me to wonder why - the Shandians and the Skypieans both have wings. (I really cannot overemphasize my visual illiteracy when it comes to manga. And life, really.)

I had to go and do a bit of digging. Calgara has the wings, so it's not a feature the Shandians developed only after coming to the sky. According to the wiki, the reason is actually explained in a cover arc that comes up later (vols 44-49, apparently - wow, that's a long cover arc). Something to look forward to!

Hey, any thoughts on when you might see 33? I am so anxious to get past 33 so we can get on to the good part, but I don't want to rush you. How long can you keep 34-35 (if I am right in remembering that you were able to get those)?

It will happen suddenly, like finding volume 32 did, but I don't know when. Why don't you go ahead and post, and I'll catch up as soon as I get the book. I would really hate to lose momentum now.

I can keep 34-35 through February 11, with the possibility of one renewal if a hold isn't placed on the book by another patron.

Yay! I started to do a bit on 33 (I was only going to do a chapter or two...) and ended up powering through the whole thing, so I'll post that soon, and try to keep up the momentum on 34 and 35. I'm so excited to finally get to Water 7.

Procrastination is a fine, fine thing.
