Icon madness

Jan 13, 2014 21:26

Have been back from Japan just over a week, am back in CT trying to console three resentful abandoned cats, and slowly recovering from the usual jet lag from hell. I owe all kinds of catch-up posts, including a trip report, but in the meantime, have a meme from firesign10:

1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Five chosen by firesign10 (who cleverly managed to pick all the ones I never get to use, so now I can talk about why I have them in the first place):

Scanned from a volume of Ryuu no Yuigon, a sadly underappreciated manga, because I thought the picture of the mushi freaking out was hilarious. It's a dragon story from a fantasy universe, and the mushi are little... random cute pet-critters, which I think I once described as a rabbit crossed with a marshmallow. One of two icons I use to express SHOCK!

From One Piece, as are approximately half my icons. Luffy as a little kid refusing to listen to... something, I don't remember what. I wish I had more opportunities to use this, but how often do you want to comment with an icon that says "lalala not listening"?

I love this cartoon-icon of chibi John and Rodney from Stargate Atlantis which I snagged from fellow SGA fan pentapus, and it makes me sad that I hardly ever have reason to use it any more. It just captures their personalities so beautifully - John goofing around, and Rodney, oh-so-serious.

One Piece again - Luffy chewing on Jinbei because he's mad about something. A monument to failed html! The story behind this one was, I wanted to make an animated gif icon from an absolutely hilarious animated gif a fellow fan created, but I never managed to make the animation work, and just left it as a single image, which I rarely have reason to use. It makes me smile every time I look at it, though, since I can just hear Jinbei roaring "I'm not fish food, Luffy!"

I used to be able to use this a lot more back when I was doing Fujimi summaries (ignore the adult content warning, I should really disable that since the site is about as offensive as sparkle ponies). It's a scan from the cover of one of the drama CDs, showing Kei and Yuuki as stuffed animals (a dog and a rabbit - Yuuki is the rabbit) kissing. I love Fujimi, you guys.

i have too many icons
