Ricca’s small fingers clung to the thick musky scented fur as he lead the way through their surroundings. The world around her smelt wet, her feet could feel the moisture as well as she carefully picked her way through the brush and downed trees. They were heading towards the nearest town, she was hoping to be able to snag a few pieces of food. A slight rumbling in her stomach indicated her need of food.
Wrinkling her nose ever so slightly she sighed, wishing that she could eat food like Victor. “Why can’t I eat with you?” she directed at him wishing she had the thick fur and sharp tearing abilities of his claws and teeth.
“You’ll get sick, Ricca.” The rough voice responded through their shared mental link. Victor was her totem animal, granted to her by Rafael her God. Sighing she nodded absently as she continued towards the town. Once again her stomach grumbled and she absently pressed her hand against her stomach.
“Almost there.” Just as he spoke it she felt a subtle change in the ground. There were no longer pine needles but a thick grass that felt soft beneath her toes compared to the rough ground. Reaching her right hand out there were no branches or rough pieces of bark to greet them, so she assumed she’d stepped into clearing where the town should be.
Concentrating she opened her sight but it wasn’t what a human would see. No, it was the sight of her companion. His sharp wolf vision could see the town, the people moving in the small single street, and the hills beyond the town. They moved together, and her grip only tightened as she readied herself to beg. Leading her to the center of town Victor waited, giving he a spot to rest.
Settling against the wall she smoothed her right hand along the tattered dirty dress and a broad smile crossed her features. She couldn’t actually see, but through Victor she could tell who was passing by. This smile could win over many, and that was certainly part of her hopes as he waited patiently, her stomach continuing to growl in displeasure.
