First of all, I love your story covers!

it kept folks in town from talking to him unless they had important business.

That’s very clever of Chris and being a man who likes his privacy, this makes perfect sense. I like how it also allows him to observe others without their knowledge.

Chris stood, grabbing his duster off the back of his chair with a sigh.

Ah, so he knows exactly what that all means...

Chris walked more quickly, irritated at her continual dismissal of Vin. He understood it, to an extent. The Greenlaws had made no effort to hide the fact that they weren't sure how to relate to Vin. When they addressed him at all it was as a child or servant.

Ooh, I felt myself bristle at that! I can see why Chris is beginning to lose his patience. And Ezra trying to get out of it probably didn’t make Chris feel much better. I’m really feeling for poor Vin here.

"Thought to, but she," he flicked a glance at the woman in the window, "squawked like I'd hit her when I walked toward the saloon. Figured I'd be better off waiting." ( ... )

Thanks so much for your wonderful and detailed comments!! Wow, you're so sweet to say all of this, and to see all of this in the story.

Sometimes I wonder if things are at all clear when I write them, so it's nice to know that folks are, you know, getting it!

Thanks!!

Oh wow, there are so many reasons I like this fic. The writing is just gorgeous and the emotions you stir up for Vin are full of pain and sadness. Poor guy, he tries so hard and he's misunderstood by some of the townsfolk.

I love the wonderful Chris/Vin scenes. I love that Chris knew exactly what to do even with Josiah's urging.

Thanks for sharing! This was beautiful. *g*
