~Makes you wonder what Chris was like when Buck knew him before, when he was married and lighter of heart. Also makes me wonder just exactly how long they've known each other. Did Buck know Chris before he settled down with his wife, so he's seen him go through many changes and both good and bad times? And what was Buck's role in Chris taking horses to be sold (I think that's what he was doing, anyway). So much backstory, and I think we only get bits and pieces of it.
~You know, I don't remember him getting a new hat, but I also don't remember seeing the bullet hole again, so you'll have to keep an eye out for that.
~I had another thought about the pardon thing while reading your fic. Vin was being charged with murder, which is probably a far cry from the con job Ezra had done; perhaps that couldn't be pardoned so easily. Also, if he hadn't yet been convicted of the crime, it's likely he couldn't be pardoned at all.
~I just meant, if the 30 days were up, they'd have to be hired on again, and it was never brought up that I recall. Chris and Vin deciding to stay on for another 30 days would be an interesting fic, no? *eg*
Well, now there's a good point. And Chris does stress the importance of the bed, doesn't he? :D

It's kind of hard to imagine, but he must have been mustn't he? Huh.

These are all interesting questions, without a doubt. Because I'd *love* to know how long Chris and Buck have been friends (the longer the time the more I can understand Buck forgiving the razor/throat thing). And *especially* so if Buck feels even a little bit responsible for Chris being gone when his family was killed.

I'll be watching. :D It was there through the rest of the episode--I did notice that.

Probably true. ::nods:: That makes a lot of sense.

This occurred to me after I answered your post. Also, this was a day before the instantaneous transmission of information. It there are wanted posters with Vin's face and a price littered around the Panhandle, even if the Judge did declare the charges dropped there'd still be the danger of bounty hunters coming after him.
