Shortly after
THIS It was her very first day of preschool, so Sara had no idea why Daddy was moving so slow. He insisted they have breakfast and made mixed up eggs and pancakes. Sara liked pancakes. They weren't real cakes, but Daddy would drip some honey from the honey bear on top of them, and they were very tasty.
After breakfast, Daddy helped her change into her new preschool clothes.
Her new pink shirt had hearts and flowers, and
her new pants had butterflies on them. She even had
new pink shoes, with real shoe laces, which Daddy laced up tight and put in an extra knot, so Sara had less of a chance of losing one (or both).
Sara's favorite part about preschool, so far, was that she got to use a backpack.
Her backpack looked like a ladybug and was big enough to fit a box a crayons, a pencil holder, and a Little Mermaid folder. Sara even got Kitty to go in her backpack.
When Daddy heard Kitty meowing, he asked, "Sara, where's Kitty?"
"Kitty go to preschool too," Sara said. She zipped open her bag a little and Kitty poked his head out, looked around, meowed, then went back into the bag to curl up with her crayons.
"Ahhh, Sara..." Daddy took Kitty out of Sara's backpack. "Kitty can't go to preschool."
"Why?" Sara watched as Kitty hopped into the pile of stuffed animals.
"They're just not allowed, Babygirl. School is for people."
"Fishy," Sara said. Daddy said the other day that there was a fish at school.
"The fish is at school because that's where it lives. Kitty lives here." Daddy zipped up her bag and gave it back to her.
"Oh." Sara was a little disappointed Kitty would be missing out, but she didn't let that stop her from being excited about preschool. She was all dressed now! That meant...
"Time for preschool!" Sara declared.
"Ah, almost. Mama has to do your hair."
Sara let out a sigh. Getting ready for school was taking a very long time.
