Now, those of you who know me, you know that I'm a dog lover of the first magnitude. I can even find something nice to say about the ugliest Xolo on the planet. Really.
That said, someone needs to crash the Board of Directors meeting of the Humane Society of the United States and bitch slap a few people.
Then PETA (since, you know, we're handing out the bitch-slaps)
And THEN smack around the hysterical reactionist pet owners on several of the dog breed email lists that I'm on.
Someone got ahold of the 2010 version of the PUPS bill. You can google it. What they did was write up a big anti-HSUS diatribe and pass it around with the usual "OMG WRITE YOUR REPRESENTATIVE /SENATOR /PRIEST/ BESTEST FRIEND/ GREENGROCER/....!!!! " et cetera.
It took me all of 90 seconds to determine that the "PUPS" bill, now S.707, offerred as an amendment to the Animal Welfare Act, read into the record on May 31st, 2011, was "Referred To Committee".
This is otherwise known as "Killed In Committee". There's not even a hearing scheduled.
And if by some bizarre chance it does come back out, I've got two words for them: "TED KENNEDY". Where did he get his dogs? An AKC breeder. Where did PRESIDENT OBAMA get the family dog? That same breeder.
'Nuff Said.
