Okay, yeah you've have a bad, bad day at work.

As for the advice and everything that's being given to your co-worker. Like I keep telling a very stubborn friend of mine (not you, I promise that) no matter how much advice, suggestions, threats, etc, you get from everyone else; ultimately it is your life and NO ONE, not even your parents, can live it for you.

I agree and I'd stay out of it too, but to the other's that are giving the advice; I'd take them off to the side and just ask them that if they're going to discuss this with "blah" (insert co-worker's name here) that could they please do it someplace other than the cubicle (like on lunch and breaks only). Make sure that they know you sympathize with her over her problems, but that you can't listen to more of it day in and day out while trying to work without getting cheesed (pissed) off and that you'd appreciate some consideration from them for your personal space and work time duties that they're distracting you from.

I'd also take some time with co-worker and offer her a shoulder to lean on, with no recrimanations, judgements, etc if she ever needed it and just tell her that you sympathize with how bad her life is going, but work is work, it's not time for a coffee clutch to discuss her life. (be diplomatic, I'm not right now.)

Anyway hope these help..oh and I'm not familiar with Lost, but a good way to get an armwrestling match started would be for them to be at a bar drinking and start up with "I can beat you any day of week" type of thing between them as the drinks keep flowing. After a few drinks... anything can and usually does happen.

C ya,

Carla
