Aphra has spent the morning being a whiny PITA (mewing at me pitifully. I think she wants a pet squirrel). Fed up after three solid hours of crying, I decided to show her what's she's missing on the other side of the window. After fashioning a harness out of clothesline I picked her up, opened the door, and out we went.
It's snowing this morning. We were only supposed to get an inch but we're definitely at that already and it's not showing any sign of stopping.
The trip outside didn't go so well. As soon as I put Aphra on the ground she slouched over to the front door and curled up against it. I placed her on the edge of the porch and she went straight back to the door. So I picked her up, held her close, and took her for a walk.
Aphra does not like snow. Aphra does not like cold. And it turns out that squirrels aren't that interesting when you're faced with the actual prospect of climbing a tree to get them.
It was when she started shivering that I decided to take pity on her, though she was wrapped in my arms and held close to my chest.
Oh well. We're both back in the house now. She's continued to complain, though now that I've convinced her to sit in my lap things have quieted down.
In other news, I was hoping to get out to Leesburg this morning to pick up a nightstand I thought looked cool but I only made it 50 yards down the road before my car started sliding all over. So I turned around, creeped back up the hill, and am now debating if I want to sew or bake. And if either of these activities is worth unseating Aphra and having to listen to her whine about it for the rest of the day.
