so let's play catch up. i've been busy as fuck, working all the time at Noah's, volunteering at the Democratic Campaign headquarters, and just seeing what a social life is like again. i love it(all of the above.) saturday i was in a parade, and i saw Al Sharpton speak, and i got a picture of him, but i'm not sure how good it'll turn out... then we went canvassing, and it was hot, and sweaty, and i got sunburnt. then we went to one of the field organizers house and rocked it out for a bit.
every wednesday, my awesomest friend Gabe takes me to church with him, mostly because he wants to be a pastor, so he's starting small, trying to convert me. i think he's beginning to see the futility of his ways, but he still likes me going. one of the keyboard players is a dream to look at. she played the first night i ever went, and she sorta reminds me of emily ruppel, but not in that "i hate you noah" kinda way that real emily is. anyway, she's playing tonight, and i'm hella stoked about it. the best part of wednesday nights, except for those weeks that i get to see keyboard player, is that afterwards, we go down the Ave, they get Bubble Tea, and i sneak into this Middle Eastern place and buy a gyro. they're so damned good.
this weekend, i was asked to participate in some "speakers training" down at the campaign, so i need to write a speech for that, any ideas? i'm thinking of going with stem cell research, which, for those of you who don't pay attention, just had a bill passed about it in the House and Senate, and the president plans to veto; his first in 6 and a half years. essentially, the bill would authorize federal spending on stem cell research, with stipulations such as, the cells must be retrieved from in vitro fertilization, the cells would otherwise have been destroyed, and the donor receives no compensation for the cells.
tomorrow night gabe, erik, and i are talking about going down to Gameworks and playing House of Dead 4, or, as we call it, to kill some zombies. this all sounds well and good, save the fact that i open on friday, at the ungodly hour of 5.
gosh, so what else? i shaved a couple nights ago, i mean, shaved my whole face, something i haven't done in almost a year. don't worry, i still look about 13 when i do it. my parents and sister fly out here on the 1st, to stay for a week or so, and then fly back to Korea, and i'm hella excited to see them.
exciting news, exciting news... nope, i don't have any more. i wish i could think to update more often, but i find myself busy and with little to say that would entice even the most ardent followers of my livejournal, as all i seem to think or talk about these days is politics. speaking of which, to everyone who reads, i know it's a midterm year, and no president will be elected, but you should still get out and vote in november. no senator from kentucky is up for re-election, but obviously every representative is. i have several friends in new york now, and hillary is running for re-election. danielle, kay bailey hutchinson is running, but it would take a force of the Democratic gods to unseat her, but still, get out and vote. this has been a service announcement paid for by "Friends of Noah"
