Note to self #2

Wow, two updates in one day? Haven't done that in... five years?

So. Got some 40K Epic stuff for myself. And I'd heard that neat Dettol is really good for stripping paint off models, it's easy to dispose of unlike Nitromors and acetone and it takes paint off plastics without melting them in the process. Sounds good to me. Left the painted stuff sitting in a container of the stuff for a few hours, went to scrub it off, didn't bother to wear gloves. Because it's Dettol, right? You put that on cuts and stuff, and my hands have been dipped in all sorts of chemicals and been none the worse for it. (except Nitromors. And industrial dishwasher fluid)

Yeah. Bad idea. Ten minutes later and it's 'oh god, why does it burn?!' Because neat Dettol can give you chemical burns. I did not know that. I do now. And to add insult to injury, there's a box of disposable vinyl gloves (and barrier cream) sitting in my craft drawer so it's not even like I didn't have any. I have a horrible feeling that in the morning my skin's going to be cracking all over my hands no matter how much hand cream I slather on them in the meantime. Ah well, lesson learned.

At least one good thing came out of this experience: Dettol really is great for stripping paint off models. Even plastics. So there's that.
