Cindy is retired

Cindy is now retired. We took her to the vet a couple of weeks ago because she was in pain. The vet gave her an x-ray and said that her arthritis was a lot worse than it was since the last x-ray five months ago, and he didn't think it was a good idea for her to keep working. I called GDQ and told them I wanted her to go to Brisbane. I'd have loved to keep her, but we travel a lot and there isn't really anyone here who can look after her because she isn't a dog you can leave in the yard and trust she'll be all right, and it stresses her out too much to be traveling often. Plus, I want her to have fun and be able to go to the beach and play with other dogs and stuff like that, which we can't here. Our instructor picked her up on Wednesday. She took her to Mackay for the night and flew to Brisbane on Thursday. She said Cindy was a bit quiet that night, but otherwise okay, and she was fine on the plane. We packed a lot of her stuff, so she had the food we got from the vet, a few toys and blankets. They've already got a family lined up for her, which is good. She's had to stay at the kennels for a few days and have a vet appointment before they can pick her up, though. It's so weird not having her around and I really miss walking with her. It's so easy compared to walking with the cane. I don't want another dog, at least not yet. I think I need some time to get over her. I didn't expect to have to retire her so soon.
