In the depths of the darkness
Just before dawn
I was asked by a voice
Filled with such hesitation
If what I was saying was true
Could it be, that the night
Had me heady and rash?
Why, I don’t know
But a challenge I saw in those words
And in a flash I realized more
Than I had in so long
The one to whom the voice belongs
Is more than kindred to my heart
When he became more to me than simple pack
I think I’ll never know
And just how unsure he was when it came to me
