First Snow

Flew home today... As I was decending into Juneau the captain announced "clear with a chance of snow this afternoon". Wow, snow? What's this, I'm gone a week already there is snow? I ask the woman in the seat next to me, has it snowed in Juneau this week? She doesn't know either...
So, I watch excitedly out the window. Snow on the mountain tops, snow in the trees... and then, snow on rooftops in downtown Douglas, a little further down and I actually see snow on the water's edge, sea level. YEAH!!! The sky is blue and clear as we touch down on the runway. The sunlight makes the snow glitter and sparkle in a blanket over buildings, cars and the wetlands by the airport.
When I step into the crisp air outside baggage claim, I'm aware of the icy layer on the pavement underfoot. I walk slowly and carefully with Sean in the sling, backpack on, pushing the stroller piled high with the carseat... behind me pulling my maxed weight suitcase. I must be a sight!
It never did snow this afternoon as forecasted. Maybe tonight and tomorrow. Exciting!!!!
