This is a little morbid I suppose, but I have an urge to honor or in one case, celebrate, the death of many in the spotlight this past year.
Don Knotts (actor Andy Griffith Show) 1924-2006
Coretta Scott King (activist, relative of Martin Luther King Jr) 1927-2006
President Gerald Ford (38th President of the US) 1913-2006
James Brown (singer) 1933-2006
Dana Reeve (actress, activist, wife of Christopher Reeve) 1961-2006
Ed Bradley (journalist) 1941-2006
Steve Irwin (conservationalist, TV personality) 1962-2006
June Allyson (actress) 1917-2006
Paul Gleason (actor) 1939-2006
Aaron Spelling (producer) 1923-2006
God bless and keep all those who have been in the media spotlight and either informed or entertained us all at one point. I hope they all rest in peace...
And this is not an "honor" by any means, but:
Saddam Hussein (dictator, The Butcher of Iraq) 1937-2006
I don't like to celebrate the death of anyone, but for a man who has killed hundreds of thousands of inncocent civilians including infants and children... he deserved it. And actually, not to break into a political tirade, but he deserved a less honorable death than what he got. Hanging is a little too quick IMO. He ordered soo many rapes and murders in such a torturous way, I think he should have received the same in return. However he was given a trial by his own coutrymen and was convicted and sentenced by his country. Aint that ironic? Good Riddance and I hope that this will bring some sort of hope to the Iraqi people and a push towards a better society.
Rant finished.
I'll post again in 2007! :) Happy New Year everyone.
