Purchased and tried out the new Tampax Compak Pearls today. Normal Tampax Pearls are pretty much the most comfortable tampon I've ever used. This is not saying much, since they're 'less uncomfortable' in the way only having one toenail ripped out by the root is less painful than having all of them ripped out. I have yet to ever experience comfort when it comes to jamming anything up my vagina, which may go a long way to explain why I've never orgasmed during penetrative sex and why I own a vibrator but not a dildo.
Anyway, when I saw the Compak Pearls, I thought, "They're smaller than the regular Pearls, so maybe they're even more comfortable (which is to say, less uncomfortable)." No such luck. They aren't actually any smaller. Their applicator is collapsed in on itself. You first have to extend the inner portion of that, which not only makes the tampon the same sized as the normal version, but also makes it a little wobbly when you're trying to insert it. Apparently, the only benefit of the 'Compak' version is that it's more discrete, for those who do not like to advertise the fact that they're going through the same thing that nearly every other female on Earth goes through once a month. Ohnoes!
Yeah, I'll stick with my pads, thanks.
