Whining about the international political stage!

I'm completely disillusioned with the UN. They just put out a report saying that both Palestinians and Israelis committed war crimes in Gaza in January, though they were more critical of Israel. WOW. Thank you Captain Obvious, anything else you'd like to add? Way to tell everyone what they already know. What do they recommend in this report? That the security council require Israel to launch an independent investigation. Oh thank god, for a minute there, I thought they would do something. Is this why the UN exists? You know, I'm really glad that our police force isn't like the UN. You would call 911, and the police would stand by while you got murdered and then maybe file a report several months later if all the policemen could come to a consensus on what happened. I understand that the UN is all about "peace keeping" and not "peace making" but you know what? They should join reality with the rest of us. There is no peace in the places that are witnessing genocide and war crimes. How can you keep something that doesn't exist? They're completely useless. It's like sending shoes to people who have no feet. The UN has simply NEVER stopped anything from happening, despite the fact that its one of their main goals. The fighting in the former Yugoslavia ebbed because NATO got involved. Oh, so they sometimes prosecute people. Good job, you sent some guy to jail for life...millions of people are already dead. I'm glad that you can pat yourselves on the back for a job well done. Thinking about it, I shouldn't have apologized for being critical of the UN in that interview I had. You know why I was critical in my paper, lady? Because the UN purposely did not call Rwanda a genocide because they didn't want to get involved. Once they labeled it a genocide, they would be compelled to interfere. You know when they finally labeled it a genocide? When almost one million people were dead, and the Tutsis had thrown the Hutus from power (and committed some retributionary murders). Oh, but there's more! They didn't even hold the tribunal in Rwanda; they held it in Tanzania. There's still ethnic tensions because the Tutsi minority are once more in charge of the Hutu majority. And the elections are obviously rigged (unless winning by 95% of the vote is common place? Yeah, I think not). And with sociopolitical conditions like that, I can just see another atrocity waiting to occur...which I'm sure the UN will watch unfold and then file a little report when everyone is dead. So what is it exactly I'm supposed to like about the UN? I could seriously go on about how much they fail (Cambodia...East Timor...etc), but I think I've made my point here.

On the subject of the middle east, I'd like to say one thing to Netanyahu (other than your name is stupid): you are an asshole. Are you annoyed that Hamas keeps lobbing rockets at your country? Are you confused as to why everyone in the middle east seems to hate Israel? You know what will probably not make things better? EXPANDING ON LAND THAT IS NOT YOURS. If you ever, *ever* want to make peace with the Palestinians, you have to stop building settlements. You can talk to Mubarak about a peace process until you are blue in the face, but you have to stop building settlements. Who knows, maybe Mubarak will do the peace process a favor and push you down a flight of stairs. :3
