Chirstmas

Christmas is believed to be one of the most significant holidays in the world. A lot of people in this planet celebrates it, even non-Christians I believe. This event is so popular that everytime December 25th arrives, not only are churches busy and crowded, but even commercial areas and tourist spots. It's the holiday where many are on vacation, while those who aren't are earning big from those people enjoying the holiday or in the duty of buying presents.

Sadly, though Christmas is such a wonderful day, and its meant to be a time for sharing and a time for people to rejoice in celebration of the birth of the Lord, it's not free from horrible things like tragedies and prevalence of holiday crimes. There are many bastards who take advantage of this event to satisfy their needs in the wrong way. Another annoying thing during Christmas is the carolling of street children. Yes, they need money, I know. But if you can't share money since you're kinda close to poverty yourself, they throw tantrums at you and even spit bad words at you. That's jsut as worse as their bad singing -_- What pisses me the most are the hypocrites. They give away stuff to the less-fortunate ones, just to show their "generosity", but honestly they just want some spotlight. I don't think I need to name such people since . . .THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! From the top to the ordinary ones.

Reality just sucks that bad.

But of course, not everyone is like that. There are people who are tuly into the Christmas spirit. They are so lovely and generous that I could call them modern saints. Such remarkable people are actually the humble ones and are rare to find.

Back to the Christmas topic. . . actually, my family no longer celebrates Christmas ^^; It started ever since my momz converted into a religion which doesn't celebrate it. It was a huge blow to me before, since it meant that there won't be any more Christmas parties at home. I'm not even allowed to attend Christmas parties . . . I was just able to attend the ones at school since they were required, and also the ones by close relatives since they want us there no matter what ^^;

But as years go by, I got used to not celebrating Christmas. For each year, the lesser presents I give and parties I attend ^^; And this year, I absolutely didn't give any Christmas presents nor attended any Christmas party at all.

Not that I'm KJ (kill joy) or just plain selfish . . . maybe it's just because I only treat Christmas now as an ordinary day. . . and also because, I'm starting to have a different perspective on that certain holiday.

Well, yes, Christmas is supposed to be special since it's the Lord's birthday. So it's essential that during this time of the year that we share our blessing and act good and all . . .

but why are those acts only emphasized during Christmas? Wouldn't Jesus be hell happier if we do it not only during his birthday, but everyday in our lives?

I think the idea of a Christmas day just makes us act good on a certain day or week or month, then after that, everything goes back to normal.

I'm starting to think the same thing on giving away Christmas presents. I think birthday presents are even more meaningful. Christmas presents are usually given because we are obliged to since it's the holiday tradition. Why not give presents at other times of the year? And give something that the person would really want or need. Not just something that you just gave for the sake of giving somethign during Christmas.

Aside from presents, there's also a lot of money wasting during this event. People buy Christmas decorations, including those parols, christmas lights, decorated pine tree, a dummy santa, and other christmas related stuff that would be worthless if it's not christmas. These stuff are mere tradition which I dunno where the hell rooted. I don't think decorating your house with Christmas stuff was ever written in the bible.

Speaking of Christmas related stuff, there's this idea of a Santa Claus. I think this imaginary figure was created for children to learn to behave. But I think what happened is that it made children materialistic. They're not acting good because they want to be good children, but because they want the presents -_- Moreover, a person who is truly generous doesn't have to pick people he wants to give presents to. Whether the person's naughty or nice, he'll be given with whatever the others are given with too. That's what I call unbiased and true generosity. You know, like Christ, he died for all of us, so that includes the sinners too.

I believe the true spirit of Christmas shouldn't only be on the 25th of December, but all year round. And besides, I've heard that it's possible that the Lord's birthday isn't really on the December 25, but around October. It's said to be made December in order to please some pagan people and cooperate with Christians. I don't know if that's confirmed yet though. But whether it's true or not, like that matters! What's important, once again, is that the true spirit of Christmas should really be practiced every single day ^_^

But well, who am I to talk about this stuff ^^; I can't count myself as a generous person, since I have been and still am selfish in so many ways. And I honestly love Christmas day for two major reasons: no class/work, and presents. I am materialistic, yes. Though I also appreciate nonmaterialistic things. A simple Christmas greeting already makes me smile from ear to ear. And I honeslty enjoy those Christmas related stuff, like I watch Christmas shows, I draw Christmas art, I adore wonderfully made Christmas trees, I like Christmas designs, I sing Christmas songs, and so fort. Even if those things aren't truly that significant. it still brings me some joy ^^;

Haha, I'm starting to think that these points of view might be influenced by my momz. But when I thought about it over and over, I realize that, yes, it's partly true. Just partly. Her sect had other reasons for not celebrating it, which I don't agree >_> But they're not bad people ^^; They just see it as disrespect to God if we celebrate pagan traditions, I think. I won't elaborate more 'coz, that might make my entry waaaay longer o_O and a bit off topic ^^;

And oh, please, I hope there won't be people foolish enough to bash me for this ^^; These are all OPINIONS! OPINIONS DAMNIT! And this is my journal after all -_- I'm not really bashing Christmas anywayz, just the . . eerrr . . misuse of it ^^; So if people will start telling me "Hey, you have no christmas spirit, b!tch" . . . I am not sure what to do . . since that person had even lacked in manners for one o_O much more to being a good person -_-

Am not saying I am perfectly correct either. I'm human, I make mistakes. I'm imperfect, I don't know and understand a lot of things. And besides, opinions change. Very likely that I'll have another perspective on Christmas next year ^^;

Well, time for me to shut up now ^^; I want to end this entry with a . . .

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!! *glomps all* xD

Off-topic: Though we don't really celebrate Noche Buena (a meal during christmas eve), we ate Ham last night (important and popular food during the event), hehe xD. And today, Christmas day, we went to the mall (like last year -_-) and walked around and had lunch at Pizza Hut, my pizza goddess's territory (those who watch code geass will get it xD). Last night and during this day, I also received a lot of Christmas greetings through my mobile phone, thank you guys and I love you ^_^
