Merlin
Merlin arrives at the city of Camelot, where the king, Uther Pendragon, has outlawed magic and imprisoned the last dragon. Merlin, who was born with extraordinary magical powers, is taken as the apprentice of Gaius. I am a huge sucker for medieval fantasy stuff. So when I heard about this from tininess, I already knew that I will be hooked to this; and I certainly am xD
I wasn't able to get a DVD of it, unfortunately, so I have to bear the torture of waiting the downloads to finish x_x Finally able to watch episode one last night (next two episodes are now in progress xD), and I sure had fun ^_^
Yes, it's based on the arthurian legends, of course; but it changed a lot of things. Like Merlin's and Arthur's ages: in the traditional ones, Merlin's much older while here they're around the same age in this tv series. I believe there are more but I'm lazy to enumerate and you'll get to spot them anywayz if you're familiar with the traditional legends ^^;
So far . . . I like both versions. ^_^
I think this is something that even little kids can enjoy, because it doesn't have much violence and there's no gore. It's not as hilarious as the other series I'm watching right now though (which is Supernatural) but it had good comedy! Merlin had given me the most laughs and glee xD
Title character's awesome. His old version from traditional legends had been a remarkable fellow, his younger version is much fun since . . . it's more youthful (thus more mischevous stuff) xD And I really really think I'm gonna love his relationship with Arthur xD Best friend love! Arrogant-but-actually-kind Prince + Magically-powerful-but-nice Servant combo . . . oh I will be entertained xD
This may be bias but I'm not that pleased with the casting except for Merlin (his hair's kinda amusing though ^^; but he's cute *_*). I dunno, I just don't find them that . . . attractive ^^; But of course if I ignore physical appearances, the cast is good ^_^ CG is pretty cool . . . but not that spectacular ^^; Setting and costumes and stuff didn't amaze me that much for some reason, but they were okay. There seems to be some minor story telling problems too (oh come on, how come Arthur's life was threatened just in time on Merlin's arrival and when he learned about his destiny x_x). Pretty coincidential, it'll be a problem if there'll be much more of them. But I've seen worse, and they weren't that bad, so it's . . .ignorable xD Haha! All those super minor flaws are ignorable as long as it continues to be fun and interesting xD
So yeah, I'll definitely be finishing the downloads and complete this series xD I love it! I am already looking forward to season 2 xD I wonder when it'll be x_x
