You Have Gone
What would you say if
Upon your return
I welcomed you gladly
And then informed you that
You had never left?
Would you think that
Insanity had taken me
Like a plague?
Or would you understand
That to me,
You are never gone,
That I see you
When I look up
At the stars,
That I hear your laughter
In passing streams,
That I sense your presence
In the silent stillness,
That I feel your heart beat
With the rhythm of my own?
...And yet...
It is only when you have returned,
That it truly feels as though
You have gone.
