It's finished. It's done.
Today marks the anniversary of the canon death of Charlie Pace on Lost. Being the terribly fangirly fangirl that I am, I’ve been working on a little rather large project for a while now, being sort of a musical tribute to my favourite ex-rock star. And by that I mean I’ve made a 40 song fanmix with every song (except one cus its an instrumental and I’m lazy) having it’s own graphic. There are links to downloads for every song as well as youtube links (for all but two) so you can listen to the songs first if you’d prefer before you kill your download limits. If anyone wants a zip of all the files and album art, just poke me and I’ll add it to the list k?
(And before anyone tries to point this out to me - yes I know that I’m incredibly obsessive. It’s because I’m a Virgo =P)
I dedicate this fanmix to the wonderful shippers on charlie_claire, the Charlie lovers (and livers) on charlielives and also to my writing buddies (you know who you are) because I know you love Charlie just as much as I do and I know we’re all coming to the end of our tether when it comes to inspiration. Thank you to everyone who recommended songs to me (or made fanvideos that I stole songs from because they were too awesome for words). Not all the songs I got recced have been put on here (I had to stop somewhere!) but rest assured that I downloaded and listened to all of your suggestions and they were all awesome so thank you!

In a moment of despair over his brother’s callous treatment, Charlie turns to drug to try and numb himself.

The time between when Liam moved to Australia and when Charlie finally followed him, begging him to rejoin the band. Charlie spent this time in a limbo of sorts, trying desperately to get his life back on track and get off the drugs but failing every time.

Charlie finally confronts Liam, bitterly blaming him for his addiction and the way his life has turned out.

With rescue seeming less and less likely every day, Charlie goes through a gruelling withdrawal on the island with Locke’s help.

The aftermath of the withdrawal - and the promise of a bright shiny new world without the drugs.

Ethan’s abduction. Also known as the day when all the Charlie fangirl’s hearts first stopped in fear - and it certainly wasn’t the last.

In Claire’s absence Charlie gets depressed but he gets shaken out of his funk by Rose. Together they pray, reaffirming his faith.

Claire returns to camp and at first Charlie thinks his prayers have been answered until it is revealed that she doesn’t remember anything since the crash. He works at reforging their relationship from scratch but can’t help but overstep his boundaries.

After Charlie kills Ethan he isolates himself from the group but then with some prompting from Sayid he realises that he needs to talk to somebody about what happened and he can’t just keep on ignoring Claire. So they go for a walk.

“No-one is gonna take this baby away from you.”
Claire gives birth and Charlie steps up readily to be a father figure for the little guy - taking care of him and then rescuing him from Rousseau.

Charlie begins to accidentally overstep his boundaries - and Claire begins to feel resentful towards him. This all comes to a head when Claire discovers the Virgin Mary statues full of Heroin and kicks him out.

“Do you think Claire’s missed me yet?”
The day after Claire has kicked him out, Charlie is appalled to see that she’s hanging out with Locke - seemingly having replaced him already.

Charlie’s nightmares about Aaron lead him to a confrontation with Claire that...doesn’t end in his favour.

Another in between time - after his initial depression Charlie begins working on the church with Eko, the kitchen with Sayid, and he begins to go on hikes again. Basically he beings to move on from Claire and give her space.

“Do you think maybe you and I could…um…”
After finding the case of vaccine, Charlie tries to make amends with Claire by giving it to her. She is flattered by the gesture and the C/C shippers rejoiced.

Charlie finally let’s go of the statues that he’s been coveting for weeks, throwing them all in the sea on his own stead and seeking his own redemption.

And after the hatch implosion, thus begins the healing process between Charlie and Claire.

“The universe has a way of course correcting...and I can’t stop it forever. No matter what I try to do...you’re gonna die brother.”
And then just when things start to look good some crazy Scottish man comes out of nowhere and starts predicting his death. Poor Charlie.

This time it’s Hurley who snaps Charlie out of his little death-funk. They achieve this by doing wheelie’s in a beat up old VW bus. As you do.

Instead of running away from him and generally freaking out, Claire FINALLY tells Charlie that she’s going to look after him and that they’ll face Desmond’s death prophecies together. And all the shippers squeed.

A moment that wasn’t covered in the show (but should’ve been) was the brutal death of Charlie’s beloved guitar (whom I have nicknamed Ethel). So here’s your Catch-22 song people, a lament for poor broken Ethel.

Desmond informs Charlie of the final prophecy and Charlie decides to write out a list of his Greatest Hits for Desmond to give to Claire after he’s gone.

Despite the over arching presence of his imminent death, Charlie still finds a moment to regret the shortness and shallowness of his life but acknowledges that he did some worthwhile things as well, and he’s proud of who he’s become.

The greatest act of heroism to date on Lost - one man walking (or rather, swimming) steadfast to his own death to save the lives of the people that he loves. Well, he always was a determined little sod.

“But if this station floods...what happens to you?”
“I die.”
Unfortunately the Looking Glass isn’t empty and Charlie has to try and convince Bonnie and Greta that he’s definitely going to turn off the jammer.

The transmission to Penny and shutting the door. Yeah, not a whole lot about this scene that I can try and be cheerful about.
