I think this fic in particular was a very image heavy piece in my mind. I had very clear visions of how it would play out - and depending on how well I can visualise a fic definitely comes out through my writing.
Oooh yes! I wanted it to be a little bit unsettling so that you didn't know if he had survived or if he was actually dead. There was some very subtle hints in there, mainly how light and cold Charlie's touch was, the way he didn't put his arms around her - he maintains a distance from her despite Claire obviously wanting him to hold her, to touch her.
Oh and poor Des! He would have gotten the shock of his life when Claire announced that she'd just seen Charlie in the jungle. I'm surprised he didn't have a heart attack on the spot to be honest =P
All the elements make an appearance in the final bit actually! There's the rain outside, the fire under the kettle when she goes to boil it, the mud/earth on Desmond's boots, the cold wind that rushed through the door and of course Charlie's ring as metal.

I love this banner! I was splicing those two pictures for a banner/header not long ago and that's when I got bunnied for the fic! So I scrapped the banner idea and turned it into the header for this instead!
