Kristen is Union
**Please note, this message was typed yesterday, but my internet has been going in and out since Sunday. Fun tymes.**
So I joined the union. AFGE (American Federation of Government Employees)
Here's my kommentary:
HOLY SHIT BENEFITS
I only hope I have opportunities to use most of these benefits in my lifetyme. (Alaskan/Antarctic cruises, discounts for Disney hotels, etc.) Others I kynda hope I never have to use (Help with legal representation).
I also got some sweet swag. All stuffed in this insulated cooler-like basket thing with a bottle opener attached to it. I think they're enkouraging me to party on weekends. I also got a sweet tie-dyed 3xl t-shirt that was left over from the Labor Day parade. It will never fit me...but I will do my best to shrink it and rock it 80's style or something. I acquired a handle-cup-thingy with a lid so I kan enjoy liquid beverage regularly at my desk. At least until I dig up my insulated cup. Oh, and they gave me a fitted baseball cap with union stuff on it. I love how fitted caps fit. And this one seems to be a good size for me. And pens. Friggin awesome grippy pens that I'm totally into. And she said there's more swag involved if I visit the office every now and then.
HA, funny! Union members at our hospital get FREE POPCORN when they stop by the office. That just struck me as humorous. Especially bekause I work for the recreation department and pop popcorn in excess at least once a week.
There's a lot more to the union membership that I'm totally leaving out (such as representation if shit hits fans @ hospital), but I'm thinking it's a pretty neat organization.
