A/N: I haven't written anything or posted a fic in ages it seems. My writing skills feel very rusty. I'm still in the progress of writing this fic, but I wanna know what you think. Should I continue this? After all this time, I feel a bit insecure.
Also, I really really need a beta reader. I'm not a native speaker so I'm sure to write mistakes.

Callie Torres was not an average young woman. She wasn’t what you’d call beautiful by normal standards.  She was Mexican and didn’t have a size 0. She had curves and she was proud of them. She didn’t hide them beneath wide clothes, no, she wore tight fitting outfits that accentuated her curves in the right places. The only person who had ever called her beautiful had left her without notice and seemed to have disappeared from the globe of the earth.

Most women of her age loved going out, spending time with their friends, shopping at the mall.  Callie Torres couldn’t do any of that. She spent all her time either working or studying.  When she wasn’t in class or studying, she was working. Sometimes she even had to skip a class because of a job. She had 3 jobs to help her with her study loan.  She couldn’t get a scholarship because her dad is, “oh irony she thought”, one of the richest men of Florida State.  But her father had cut her off, so she was on her own to pay for med school and everything else.  As a result, all her supposed friends had dropped her when she stopped hanging out with them.  She couldn’t afford to go out anymore, and her friends didn’t bother to stop by to hang out with her.  She also had to give up the apartment her father had rented for her and had to go stay in a dorm, which was much cheaper.  At first she had opted for a single room. She wasn’t a people’s person, life had forced her to be alone but she liked it that way. At least she didn’t have to share a room with a person that loathed her.  But financial problems had forced her to give this up too, so now she was waiting for her new room mate.  For a moment she considered calling her dad and saying she wasn’t gay after all. She’d have her trust fund back in a second, but she couldn’t do that. She couldn’t deny who she was and if her parents couldn’t accept that, then she’d have to struggle through life alone. But Callie was a fighter, she didn’t give up and she’d get through med school without the help of her parents. It was her dream to become a doctor and she wouldn’t let her parents take away that dream.

A knock on her door brought her out of her reverie. The door opened and a blonde, blue eyed woman stepped into the room.

“Hello, I’m Arizona Robbins, you’re roommate.”

*******************************

Arizona Robbins may be blonde, but she was nothing like the stereotype everyone believes blondes are.  She was well-spoken, intelligent and only interested in becoming a doctor. So her life consisted out of studying because she wanted to be the best.  She did have friends, but she only allowed herself to go out one evening a week.  The rest were used to study.

She couldn’t wait to start med school.  Finally her dream was coming true. She would become a doctor.

When her father had told her he’d drive her to her dorm, she had declined.  She was old enough to drive there herself.  Truth be told, she wouldn’t really miss her parents. Things hadn’t been going well between them.  They were overly protective about her and always demanded to know where she had been. Her father had once even followed her to college to check whether she truly went there and not to some boyfriend.  When she had found out, she had told her father she’d check into a dorm next year and wouldn’t be staying at home any longer.  That was the only time in her life she could remember to ever have stood up to her dad.  She remembered the moment with clear intensity and it made her shudder again.

So here she was, waiting before room number 512, afraid to knock on the door to see who would be on the other side.

She took a deep breath and knocked on the door. No one answered so she slowly turned the knob. She was eye-to-eye with a gorgeous Latina woman.

“Hello, I’m Arizona Robbins, your roommate”, she said smiling and extending her hand.

“Uh, hi…Callie Torres”, Callie hesitantly introduced herself.

So, what do you think?

If anyone feels like being my beta for this fic, you can PM me. I don't write quickly as I don't have much time to write, so you won't be getting like 10 pages or so a day. That's also why I'll wait to post until I've almost finished this. I don't want to leave you guys waiting for weeks or so between updates. Sometimes I have weeks where I don't have time to write at all.
