Soooo I went back to Day of the Moon and the mobile in the astronaut child's room is definitely made of tinfoil, while the one in the Doctor's cradle is made of painted wood. I think it's definitely meant as a callback, but it's not physically the same object.
When was the picture on the dresser in Day of the Moon taken? Amy is wearing white, so it could be at Demon's Run, but she's smiling, which she was not at Demon's Run. Unless she got brave for the camera, but I feel like it would have been called out if the picture was taken during the existing canon.
So here's my basic thought: the prayer leaf got left in the cradle, so it's not with the baby to tell her her name. So maybe the baby lives in the Gamma Forest and learns her name in translation there (maybe they're family-name-first people, anyway), or maybe they meet again and take the picture and leave the prayer leaf and then Something Happens. The Gamma Forest sounds interesting; it's church-neutral and has had Conflict.
I went to the TARDIS wiki to make sure I had the place-name right and they are way ahead of me and are absolutely sure (from reasoning, not spoilers, from the look of things) that the Doctor is going to the Gamma Forest right away, when he literally or metaphorically proposes killing Hitler next episode.
I started thinking about this and had three reasons Amy and Rory might see Melody again as a baby (the mobiles being similar, the prayer leaf, and the photo), and now I've talked myself down to just the photo. Hmm.
I have somewhat more serious thoughts on family and loss and the arrow of time, but I think I might keep them stowed until the fall, when I can be sure of how much I'm running my mouth.
And now I think I'm done spamming for a while.
