Jansport makes a really awesome backpack. I highly recommend the brand.
I have just been overwhelmed with sadness. As I was cleaning up my "office/spare bedroom" I came to my backpack that has been with me since Freshmen year of High School. This backpack has made quite a journey and is now about to be retired. It managed to make it through high school without getting drawn on, or having patches attached. I did at one point have a lot of key chains hanging from it, but they are all gone except for actual part that holds the key from one. It's a navy backpack. It has been through the rains, snow, ice, and winds of lovely Boone. It has carried extra clothing for spending the night with friends. It has carried CRAZY amounts of books after my first trips to the bookstore Freshmen year of college. It has carried music/mallets from high school band. It has held all that is needed to survive as a woman when treking across campus all day long. It has held food, medicine, makeup, kleenex, chapstick, calculator, pins, pencils, highlighters, keys, books, paper, notes, index cards, cell phone.
And now it lies empty on my office floor, about to retire to the closet. No more will it be used for school. The only evidence that it was even used at all, are a few scratches on the bottom of the bag. This was when it was WAY overfilled and I probably drug it across the floor to get closer to me. No Holes, No Tears. It has had a a full 8 years of work. It has done a fabulous job.
RIP my best Jansport bookbag!
